MEDICAL CAMP ( 10-JULY-2005)
A medical check up camp was organised for the staff and inmates of Gandhi Niketan Ashram on 10-07-05. The medical team was consisting of Dr. M. Srinivasan, orthopaedic Surgeon from Bodi. Dr.A.Bhima Raja, Physician from Rajapalayam, Dr. A.B. Chitra, Gynaecologist from Rajapalayam, Dr. S. Damodharan, Orthopaedic Surgeon & Dr. Ms. Anandhi, Anaesthetist from Kovilpatti. They were kind enough to bring their own equipment for doing basic blood and urine test. About 120 members were examined and the necessary treatment advised, those who needed any medicines were given free drug.

A significant finding among this small group of patient was the presence of iron deficiency anaemia. Their haemoglobin ranged from 7 to 10gm. 20% were found to be diabetics and the quiet a significant proportion had low back ache and cervical spondylitis. They were all given necessary advice.
It was indeed a unique experience for the member of the staff of Gandhi
Niketan Ashram and it was also heartening to note that the team of doctors
were willing to come periodically and extend this camp to the neighbouring
villages. The Ashram greatly appreciates their services.
