CAMPUS INTERVIEW

         The trained candidates at Dr.J.C.Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology & Development run by Gandhiniketan Ashram were offered job in TVS-Sundaram Clayton Company.

        Dr.J.C.Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology & Development an Institutional training centre of Khadi and Village Industries, Government of India at Gandhiniketan Ashram, T.Kallupatti in Madurai District conducts training courses in Rural Engineering like, Fitter, Plumber & Pump Mechanism, Motor Winding, Welding & Grill Works, Steel Fabrication, Two Wheeler Mechanism, Refrigerator and A/c Mechanism and Electric Wireman. TVS-Sundaram Clayton Company conducted campus interview at the Institute on 11.04.09 and selected 26 candidates. They were offered jobs letters on the spot asking the candidates to join at Chennai(Padi) and Hosur branch on 15^th April 2009.

SUMMER SPECIAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES - 24.04.2009

One day summer camp was organized by Gandhi Niketan G.Venkatachalapathy Higher Secondary School on 24.04.2009, in which NSS, JRC, Green Corps and Scout students participated. Totally fifty four students attended the camp.

            The camp began at 9.00 am with a prayer. Thiru R.Rajaathiyaman, in his welcome address, explained the purpose of the camp.  Ashram chairman Dr.R.Venkataswamy inaugurated the camp.  School secretary Thiru.Nagarajan spoke elaborately about the scout movement. Ashram treasurer Thiru.Shanmugasundaram urged us to start ‘Guides movement’ for girls in our school. Artist Mr.Muthukumar trained the students to draw beautiful pictures easily.

            Students did ‘ Shramdhan’.  Students came forward with ideas to the improvement of their villages. Students are given chances to exhibit their special talents. In the evening all the students attended the ‘ Guidance and Counselling ‘ meeting addressed by Thiru.Rajarajan from Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, Periyanaikkanpalayam, Coimbatore.

2. Free Computer Summer Course

          Gandhi niketan Ashram decided to offer free computer course, during summer vacation for ten days. We planned to select fifty Gandhiniketan students and fifty other school students. The course commenced on 24.04.2009. It was inaugurated by our Ashram chairman Dr.R.Venkataswamy, committee member Dr.V.Sivarani and Ashram treasurer Thiru.Shanmugasundaram. School secretary Thiru.Nagarajan also attended the function. Well begun, the students enthusiastically joined to learn computer course. Mr.M.Muthukumar, Mr.K.Shokkeswaran, Mrs.Kayalvizhi and Mr.Packiaraj are successfully planning and conducting the course.

3. Guidence and Counselling Meeting for Higher Studies

          A guidance and counselling meeting for X and XII std students and their parents was organized on 24.04.2009 Five hundred parents and five hundred students attended the meeting. Thiru.Rajarajan from Kovai Ramakrishna Vidyalaya illuminated the gathering about the various vocational trainings offered in their campus. He explained how an average and below average student too can rise up in life through these skill-trainings. He focused on the various job opportunities and demands. Students are greatly stimulated and encouraged by this programme. Parents appreciated it.

Foundation day-28.04.2009

Gandhiniketan Ashram observed it’s 69^th Foundation Day on 28.04.2009. A special prayer was conducted in Gandhi mandapam at 6 a.m. All ashram workers attended the prayer. Ashram Chairman Dr.R.Venkataswamy Ayya delivered a special message.

            A symposium was organized to commemorate the day. ‘ Rural Economy- Past, Present and Future ’ was elaborately discussed. Thiru. Gomathi Nayagam, Presidet Gandhi Seva Sang, Puliangudi Presided over the meeting. Thiru.Balasubramaniam, Researcher, Natural Farming and Professor V.Ragupathy, Political Science Dept Gandhigram Rural University and secretary Gandhi niketan Ashram delivered speeches on the necessity to nurture the nature for future. Advantages of natural Farming are enumerated and illustrated with examples. Disadvantages of using Chemical fertilizers and pesticides were also elaborately explained. If we use bio-manures, water crisis can be easily solved.

            Dr.Ragupathy emphasized how Gandhian way of Basic education and Mother economy is relevant even today to the whole world. Local villagers,Farmers,  panchayat Union Officials, Ashram workers and teachers attended the meeting. It was graced by the Ashram Chairman who welcomed the gathering and committee member Dr.V.Sivarani. Thiru.R.Rajendran proposed vote of thanks.Lunch was provided to all the participants.
