63rd Independence Day Celebrations 15.08.2009

 
 

 

 
 

Gandhiniketan Ashram celebrated 63rd independence day in a grand manner. Various activities were organized to commemorate the day. The day started with a special prayer followed by National Flag hoisting by Thiru V. Kalyanam, former personal secretary to Mahatma Gandhiji.

The ashramites and students of the Gandhi Niketan G. Venkatachalapathy Schools got the unique opportunity to listen to his first hand experiences with the Mahatma. The students were greatly inspired by his emotional narration about Gandhiji and his principles. 

He narrated the importance Gandhiji gave to punctuality, orderliness, simplicity, truth, non-violence and prayer in the daily life of every individual. He told them of the supreme sacrifice he made to get freedom for our country from the British Government and  how he identified himself with the masses by leading the life of a poor villager.

He also appreciated the management, teachers and students of gandhiniketan G.Venkatachalapathy schools for the quality education being given, clean and green environment of the campus and discipline of the children. He exhorted the children to follow the gandhian path and lead a life of simplicity and truthfulness. Ashram Secretary Dr.V.Ragupathy, School Secretary Thiru.R.Nagarajan, the Headmistress of the school Mrs. Rajeswari participated in all the programmes.

Earlier, he organized a photo exhibition of Mahatma and displayed very valuable materials such as news papers of yester years before and immediately after independence, rare photographs of national leaders alongwith Gandhiji, letters addressed to Gandhiji in different languages and also some of the letters written in Gandhiji’s own handwriting.

As part of the centenary celebrations of the founder Sri G.Venkatachalapathy,  he inaugurated Ashram’s programme to  adopt  Kamarajar Harijan Colony at T. Kallupatti. He appreciated the contributions of the founder of the Ashram to the society particularly to the Harijans in Tamilnadu.  He also hoisted the National flag and gave an inspiring speech about the activities of the Ashram and the role played by the founder for the upliftment of the oppressed and the poor.

Computer Club-22.08.2009

   
             
     

The first club meeting of computer science for this academic year was conducted on 22.08.2009. The meeting began with a prayer at 3.00 pm, in the auditorium Headmistress Mrs.R.Rajeswari presided over the meeting.      Computer science teacher Mr.M.Muthukumar welcomed the gathering.

      He stressed the need for computer education and the various job opportunities available in the field. Miss.K.Muthuselvam XII – A1 spoke about the growth and usage of computers. Mr.M.Palanichamy XI A1 spoke about the virus and the preventive methods to save computers from virus.    
           
         
      Mr C.Manikandaprabu to run Quize Programme A Scene of  Modern Thiruvilayadal Drama    
     

Mr.C.Manikandaprabhu XI A1 conducted a quiz programme XII – A1  students enacted a modern Thiruvilaiyadal comedy drama. Mr.Vigneswaran XII – C1 proposed vote of thanks. The entire programme was compiled by Miss.Divya XI – C. The meeting ended with national anthem at 4.30 pm.

   
             
             
             
      Medical Camp-30.08.2009    
           
     

          Gandhi niketan Ashram organized a free medical camp, for the benefits of local and surrounding villagers, on 30.08.2009. Under the leadership of Dr.Beemaraj, a leading Cardiologist and Dr.Chitra, a busy gynaecologist,  Dr.Anitha  an ophthalmologist and Dr.Kumaresan a paediatrician also participated in the camp, Seventy five patients, mostly senior citizens came with their aging ailments. The doctors conducted a thorough check – up and prescribed the medicine. They also counseled them to tackle and over come the aging problems easily. Special medicines were given to pregnant women and children.
