Personality Development (10th December 2006 )
 
     
 

Periodic Personality developement programmes are arranged for teachers and students. On 10th December 2006, Mrs Girija of Madurai spent half a day  talking to our teachers and other Ashram workers. It was indeed a very thought provoking and mental uplifting programme. Her way of presentation drew the praise of all. We have requested her to come more often.

Indian Overseas Bank’s helping hand (6th December 2006 )
 
     
 

To build a separate library complex in our Ashram IOB has come forward to donate a sum of rupees 2 lakhs. It was indeed a great gesture keeping in time with their commitment to social causes.

On 6th December 2006, the DGM of IOB at Madurai handed over the cheque to Mrs. R. Rajeswari at a function organised in our school. This project cost will be around 9 to 10 lakhs. Mr. Karamuthu T. Kannan has come forward to give technical help for the building and he has promised a sum of rupees 4 lakhs. The remaining is to be organised with help of Philanthropists.  Any one is welcome to contribute and we have 80 G exemption.

 
     
 
AIDS AWARENESS AND SAVE THE GREENARY PROGRAMME (10th November 2006)
 
 

The Green army in our school is actively engaged in spreading the message of saving and planting trees for a safer environment. As part of their project a function was held on 10th November 2006 and a procession was taken at T. Kallupatti.

Hostel Inauguration (25th October 2006)
 

This day is an important milestone in the history of the Ashram. For the first time the Ashram has received such  a large sum of Rs. 31 lacs from a single donor for constructing a new hostel for the students. The donor was none other than Thiru. A. N. Radhakrishnan, Chancellor Meenakshi Academy for Higher Education and Research University.

Thiru. A.N. Radhakrishnan is a great Educationalist in Tamilnadu. He heads several education institutions in and around Chennai.

 During  1950’s of last century he had worked with our Founder Late Mr. G. Venkatachalapathy. Mr. Radhakrishnan out of his love and admiration for our Founder came forward to donate such a large sum to build this hostel. We the Ashram community are ever grateful to this noble man. It is with this back ground we requested him to come and inaugurate the hostel.

On  25th October 2006 , the function started with opening ceremony of the hostel. Mr. Radhakrishnan lit a lamp and went around the hostel and blessed the students. Following this the Ashram community assembled at the school auditorium.

The function started with inter religious prayer. Mr. Radhakrishnan was honoured with presentation of a memento and a shawl. Later he opened the Plaque declaring open the hostel.  Following this he addressed the gathering. The highlight of his talk was his announcement of promise to take one student from our school for each of the following  professional courses;  Medical, Dental and Engineering,  provided they get good marks. He went a step further to offer free education for these students. It was indeed a great gesture from a Noble soul. Following this the building contractor Mr. M. Natarajan and the Architect Mr. R. Varadharajan were honoured.

Meeting ended with National Anthem.

 
FOUNDER’S DAY AND 65TH YEAR OF THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASHRAM
     

This is one of the important events in the Ashram every year. The day started with a community prayer at 6.00 am at the Gandhi mandapam. The entire Ashram workers, residents and teachers participated. After a memorable Bhajan the President Prof. R. Venkataswami gave a message exhorting the Ashram community to rededicate themselves to the cause of ideals with which the Founder Late. Sri. G. Venkatachalapathy founded the Ashram.

Later, the students, staff of the schools of the Ashram and the Ashram workers  assembled for hoisting the Ashram flag in front of Gandhi mandapam. Following this they assembled at ‘Shantivan’ which is the abode of Founder’s Samadhi. There was a mass prayer followed by offering of  flowers at the Samadhi.

At  10. 30 am, the main celebrations started at the School auditorium. The function began with inter religious prayer. The Secretary presented the annual report following this president welcomed  the gathering and the dignitaries.

This year we had invited Mr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, a distinguished Space Scientist from New Delhi to deliver the Founder’ oration. In his address he appealed to the student community to prepare themselves for a bright future. His oration was a memorable and stimulating one.

Following this Thiru. Karumuttu T. Kannan, Managing Director of Thiagaraya Mills, Madurai gave his Presidential address. He was very much impressed with our Ashram particularly the general atmosphere and the discipline among the students. He also exhorted the students to prepare themselves well for their future. He made an announcement that he will contribute a sum of Rs.2 lacs towards a modern library complex for the school and the Ashram. It was indeed a great gesture on the part of Mr. T. Kannan.

We greatfully acknowledge his contribution and also for his promise to help us in establishing a rural technology centre. Mr. R. Rajendran, Joint Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Function ended with a National Anthem.

In Afternoon at 4.30 pm Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Southern region inaugurated the cultural festival by the students and the staff of the schools and Dr. J. C. Kumarappa Institute for Rural technology and Development. It was commendable performance by all those who participated. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar in his inaugural address appreciated the work done by the Ashram for the welfare of the rural community. The function ended with National Anthem.

Parents Teachers Association
 

In the present day context close relationship between parents and Teachers is very essential for better understanding of the students.

We hold periodical meetings. The parents present their problems in dealing with their children. In addition they give very valuable suggestions. The management takes this opportunity to explain their plans to improve the teaching and infrastructure and solicits the cooperation from the parents.
