Environmental Day Celebration

                                                                                                           05.06.2009 

            Environmental Day was celebrated on 05.06.2009 in a grand manner. The function commenced with a prayer at 3.00 P.M. in the school auditorium. The function was presided over by the Headmistress R.Rajeswari. Mrs. R.Pankajam welcomed the gathering. Thiru.R.Kasipandi Teacher Educator, SSA, delivered special address about the present environmental pollution and the need to preserve the environment. Thiru.P.Ramesh from Auro Meera Bio-energy emphasized the need to use renewable energy. He explained how their firm is generating electricity from agricultural waste and how the waste from the process is again used as manure and in making bricks. V.A.Mohanlal, a student spoke about  the dangers of pollutions. Girl students sang songs on the necessity to preserve the oratory, Essay, Drawing and Music environment. Competitions were conducted on the theme. Prizes were distributed to the winners by Thiru P.Ramesh, Smt.P.Thilagavathi Assistant Headmistress and  Thiru.R.Kasipandi Thiru T.Rajkumar gave vote of thanks. Thiru R.Rajaathiyaman, Environmental Group Co-ordinator has made all the arrangements for the function.

12.06.2009-Felicitation to Teachers and Students

Gandhiniketan G.Venkatachalapathy Hr.Sec.School felicitated its’ retired teachers on 12.06.2009. There was a grand function in the auditorium, which was presided over by our Ashram Chairman Professor R.Venkataswami. Recently retired teachers Mrs.V.Banumathi [ P G Science], Thiru.M.Palanichamy [ P G Tamil]  and Mrs.V.Kamalam [Social Science] were felicitated. Our  President honoured them with Ponnadai and mementoes. Headmistress Mrs.R.Rajeswari welcomed the gathering. Teachers Mrs.P.Thilagavathi, Thiru.R.Raja Athiyaman, Thiru.R.Janagaraj and Thiru N.Ramanisekar eulogised the great servicees  of the retired teachers. Three students also recollected their sweet association with the teachers.

            Toppers in the X Std and XII Std public exams were also honoured in the function. Our President distributed prizes to twenty students, including school toppers and subject toppers.

            All the teaching and non-teaching staff were also honoured. Our president distributed valuable books to all Higher Secondary staff. In his presidential address he appreciated the dedication and earnest efforts of the teachers and he appealed to the students to make good use of the golden opportunity and all the facilities available.

            Ashram committee member Dr.Sivarani and School Administrative Officer Mrs.V.Radha also graced the function Thiru.G.Muthuramalingam proposed vote of thanks.

13.06.2009- Founder’s Remembrance day

            Gandhi Niketan Ashram observed the 40^th remembrance day of our founder Thiru.G.Venkatachalapaty on 13.06.2009. A special prayer was conducted in the Gandhimandapam at 6 am. The Ashram community attended the prayer. Ashram President professor R.Venkataswamy and Krishnammal  Jagannathan gave special messages. A small documentary  produced by  Siddharth and Chris school students from U K on Ashram was screened.

A Bajan was conducted in the  Santhivan- founder’s samathi. Both the primary and Higher Secondary school students and staff, Kumarappa Vidyalaya trainees and staff, ashram workers participated in the Bajan. This was followed by floral offering in the samathi.

The Rememberence  meeting was conducted in the auditorium at 10 am. Ashram president presided over the meeting and welcomed the gathering. Sarvodaya leader Padmasri.Krihnammal, Jagannathan, narrated her association with the founder and her longing to visit the ashram. She blessed the students that they were all fortunate to be the students of such a great ashram and so every one of them should come forward to serve the mother land in some capacity.

Though 83 years old, she inspired the children with her untiring words and deeds. Thiru.K.M.Natarajan, Editor of Gram Rajyam also delivered a speech. He remembered how our founder, like Martin Lutherking’s famous quotation  “I have a dream” had delivered countless speeches on Gram Rajyam. He hailed the founder as the champion of Gram Swaraj.

Dr.Kowsalya Devi, Managing Trustee Gandhigram, blessed the function with her august presence. A lot of villagers and local V.I.Ps along with students and staff attended the meeting.

SCIENCE CLUB – 20.06.09 

             The first science club meeting for this academic year 2009-10 was held on 20.06.09 at 3.00 pm in our school auditorium. The. headmistress smt.R.Rajeswari presided over the function. .

Sri.G.Muthuramalingam chairman of the science club welcomed the gathering. Dr.K.Senthilkumar Managing Director, Solsen Solar Equipment (P) Ltd, Madurai, the Chief guest, explained the need for the renewable energy, green  house effect, the on going changes in the weather, the ozone layer, the sea level and the human life in the present situation

 Sri.K.Lingam explained the use of latest medical instruments especially the scanning. Then a science quiz competition was held. The competition are divided in to five groups. Sri.M.Nagarajan and Sri.T.Rajkumar acted as quiz masters. Team ‘B’ won the prize. Prizes were given to them. Vote of thanks was given by Sri.N.Ramanisekar. The meeting ended  with the national anthem.
